Finally, a sprinkling of public art

Ottawa's new watering can sculpture at the corner of Kent and Slater streets. Perhaps the can should be filled with vinegar given the nearby chipwagon.

I'm beginning to think you secretly like the extended-middle-finger statue outside the U.S. Embassy, Milan. You hadn't trashed it in the comments section for well over a month till now.

Oh dear fracking God. That town has so much hideous art...I am so glad I don't live there anymore and have to see it every day.

Not a big deal, but I think it's at Kent and Slater.

It's a tree trunk. See urbsite.blogspot.com

It's one of those tea pots for rinsing your delicate parts.

Good catch, aandj, no wonder I had such trouble finding it!

I suspect the artist was counting on just this sort of discussion as to what the heck it is and whether we like it or not.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and my immediate reaction was delight. I couldn't believe that in staid, beige Ottawa, I could find such a whimsical, fun piece. It has a tree growing out it, for goodness sake; the kind of urban art I'd expect to find in other places, not Ottawa. Thanks to the bureaucrat who approved this one.
