Great Google features: A cautionary tale

Overhead in the coffee line-up this morning:

Guy 1: So, I'm not going to the ball hockey tournament in Windsor this weekend?

Guy 2: Why not?

Guy 1: My wife was doing a Google on our home computer and when she typed the letter 'S', the auto-complete displayed 'strippers windsor'.

Guy 2: So, she won't let you go because of that?

Guy 1: I guess. Like what does she think is going to happen?

I'm glad that BlogAdmin went with the Garth getting Dooced Cam today instead of with a "What Guy 1's wife thought was going to happen in Windsor" Cam

To my understandin', a Windsor is a type of chair. As the Chair should well know. Talk about being obtuse! Guy is obviously a hobby furniture restorer, lookin' for something that'll work on an antique lac finish. Whassa problem...?

Good point, Anonymous! It just goes to show that y' can't be too specific with your search queries.

There's plenty of information out there on Windsor Chairs.

But if you want to remove the finish, you're best to make a more broad inquiry.

Stripping chairs...It all makes sense. And I suppose if Pole Dancing shows up in your Google archive, you can say you were trying to find this

The Chair's story reminds me of another overheard tale, this one on an OCTranspo bus rolling down Bank Street last year...

Girl 1: Actually, my name was supposed to be Cindy.

Girl 2: Oh yeah, what happened?

Girl 1: My dad used to know a stripper named Cindy, so my mom vetoed it.
