Ottawa Blogger Event Tonight

Apparently some Ottawa bloggers are getting together with others according to this. I'm not interested in going because:

1) It's bluesfest time;

2) I hate that place at Dow's Lake; and

3) I suspect it will attract folks like this and his "hot girlfriend" who -- according to him -- loves him almost as much as he loves her.

Uckkk. Ag. You. Me. All of the other ESIs. Bluesfest! As far as possible -- spiritually, karmically and geographically -- from political bloggers and their girlfriends (whatever temperature they may allegedly run at...)

Agatha, once again you have performed valuable work for us.

I had no idea there was a "National Capital Region Blog Mafia"! They are a scary looking bunch. (Do you suppose they are allied with Lana and Minty?)

It's a sorry state when you have to be pulled away from your exercise program and attending concerts to uncover these things.

This sort of research is really the province of the IO or our Research Department.

Unfortunately, the IO seems to have chosen to become the "Incommunicado Outcast" and the research department is obsessed with 1970s TV.

Hmmmm ... I do believe we should set up the fall meeting of the NCM Blag Mafia at one of the Elgin Street pubs.

I think its great that the right wing ottawa blogger community is taking it upon themselves to getting together and discussing their views in person!!! It works out well for you guys too, now that they've been discovered, that you'll only have a commenter or two of their blog to worry about at the bluesfest tonite.

And for the record, imo tomorrow is the best day of the bluesfest, and a day i will be there for the beginning and the end of. Wilco rules, thats gonna be the best!!!

I'm afraid i can't be any more witty today, you kids have fun tonite.

You too, Bob. Wilco does rule....

As for VW's "Blag (sic, a word we doggy types like a lot) Mafia", it fits. In my edition of the Canine Big Word Thingy, "blag" is defined as 'robbery, often with violence'....

I've misplaced my copy of the CBWT.

The Urban Dictionary's top definition for "blag" is: "To gain, usually entrance to a restricted area or club, or some material good, through confidence trickery or cheekiness. Lying is also acceptable."

But that's online, and we know everything online is utter crap.

If you've lost your BWT (how could you?) I suppose you might try a hard copy of Oxford.

Still, given the way political parties get themselves elected to government -- last one emphatically included -- I'm likin' your definition's resonations, Short Guy... a lot. Talk about a Freudian freakin' slip....

Ahh, Coyote, you're one deep cove, you are, with this tricky peri-docks: "...we know everything online is utter crap."

But as I recall from my visit to the island with the three tribes, if you met a fellow who said "everything I say is a lie," it meant you were talking to one of the sometimes-honest tribespeople.

Whereas when you met someone who said "everything I say is true" you didn't know which tribe they were from. So you'd have to ask: "if I asked you if everything you say is true, would you say 'yes'?" Then you could spot the always-lying.

In your case, we only know that some of what you put on the internet is utter crap.

And by extension, I'm not the only one...

You made a good choice in staying away, Agatha, you would have felt out of place.

It actually wasn't limited to rightwingers, bob. A liberal/Liberal friend of mine also accompanied us.
