Music for the 5M

I hope the 5M is doing well wherever she is right now. I have a sinking feeling that she's enmeshed (Coyote's word) or stuck with M at some cottage. Snogging with the lcp might be the best-case scenario for her, wouldn't you all agree? At any rate, it occurred to me this morning (as I was working on a case of a misplaced ID card) that the 5M does not seem to have music in her life, beyond the chirping of that sad little Loblaws bird. I think an intensive program of listening to Lucinda Williams would help enormously. While Johnny Cash's voice has been called the closest thing to the voice of god, I would argue that Lucinda's smoked-too-many-cigarettes and done-a-whole-lotta-heroin voice is the closest thing to the voice of the Great Goddess. I think Lucinda would help wean her off M.

'Morning, Agatha. I've always likened Lucinda's voice to a musical chainsaw, myself, but agree that her back catalogue'd do 5M great good. Although perhaps she shouldn't start with Passionate Kisses, first. Even Mary Chapin Carpenter's much-diluted version yearns a little too much. (We coyotes listen to a lotta alt-country. Usually blaring from spavined Ford 4X4s lurching through the buffalo grass, boxes fulla armed drunks shootin' way too much lead at me & the gophers. There's a romantic vision, if you want.) Perhaps Side of the Road, first. Or maybe 2 Kool 2 Be 4-gotten? Something, anyway, with that tough touch of, 'F* Off, Jack, I Know What I Need Right Now'. Capitalized.

5M's last post starts "Listening to Andy Stochansky's Five Star Motel, leant to me by The Poet."

The lcp might be stifling 5M's blogging, but Stochansky is a good choice. He's got intelligent lyrics and they're not all melancholy.

I wonder if 5M has a turntable. I could send over my Abba lps.

Agatha,

It seems your knowledge of the Abba Canon is entirely limited.

I was thinking of

Why Did It Have To Be Me?
...I was so lonesome, I was blue
I couldn't help it, it had to be you and I
Always thought you knew the reason why
I only wanted a little love affair
Now I can see you are beginning to care
But baby, believe me
It's better to forget me ...

or

So Long
...So long, see you honey
You can't buy me with your money
Tracy, Daisy, they may be crazy
But I'll never be your girl
So long, see you honey
You can't buy me with your money
You know it's not worth trying
So long, so long, so long
...

p.s. Chair, any word on when the mojo button will be back online?

Seems to me that, far from being 'entirely limited', which would probably be a good thing in this case, both of you appear have a frightening amount of familiarity with the Abba canon...

Don't know when the mojo button will get back online. Though, I believe it is correlated to when we next hear from the 5M.

Given what we know about the lcp, I wonder if the noted silence from the 5M of late is related to the lcp gettting back some of his mojo. If it were M pre-occupying her time, I'm sure there be something we'd hear about -- good or bad.
