Between 4 and 6 revisited
posted by 4th Dwarf
As you recall back in early May we had this theory for which Muse is #5.
Then the poet seemed to indicate in the Variations poem that it's Melpomene, the muse of tragedy or drama, twin sister to Thalia the muse of comedy.
However it turns out there are many other possibilities, here are six:

I think Dwarf is onto something. She may very well be Blogia. Perhaps with the wardrobe sense of Eartha. Meow.
Blogia. Eartha.
This may require an irregular meeting of irregulars. To discuss.
Also, because I'm leaving soon for Budapest, and want a farewell chat with all of you. After all, paprika may never be the same for me again. And then there's the whole James-Bond-where-are-you?- thing. So, Wednesday, the usual spot? Stay tuned for fine-tuning...
I'm getting worried about the 5M. I know Coyote says "No Muse is a Good Muse," but...it's been over a week!!! We're flourishing over here with creativity, wit and mojo. But what of the 5M?? I think it's time to send out the field operatives.
Who cares about 5M. Francis Heaney called my little pictures a "guest strip" and said "nicely done"!
Maybe I should re-evaluate my plan to go back to mining school in the fall.
I concur with Agatha. This is out of character for the 5M.
There is something big going on with the 5M, unless she has suddenly skipped town.
If we don't hear from her by the end of the week, I suggest a full deployment of the field operatives.
And 4thDwarf, we've already talked about the level of self-indulgence going on in our blog...
Congratulations, 4th Dwarf. In addition to Heaney's glowing review of your 6 things cartoon, he also said that he found our blog "inscrutable", but noted that he was "hardly one to pass judgment on other people's in-jokes." Do you think this was another polite way of calling us a bunch of wankers?
4th Dwarf, I'm not sure you should leave mining school just yet.One of the comments on Heaney's latest posting is: "Dude, they're riffin' on your gig. Sue 'em." I'm not sure the 5M is going to be quite so lighthearted about us riffin' on her gig...
Agatha, I'll stay in school.
And, Chair, you can talk about me being self-indulgent, but I think you're just jealous that you're not getting props in Roy Lichtenstein's Blog.
That Lichtenstein is so derivative.
But thanks for the new image references for future photoshop work.
I like the hi-res quality.
Yes, the 5M has gone underground. Agatha's suggestion of sweeping the hospitals may have some merit. And if you need to take it a step further, here's a handy tool:
5M Locator
Thanks for yet another handy resource, IO. I believe I said I was "worried"...I'm not quite on the dark trajectory that you are at the moment. My latest thought is that she's on to us and has changed her blog site.
I consider my comment not so much a polite way but a shorter way of calling you "a bunch of people who keep making references to someone named 5M that I totally didn't understand to start with and that I continued to totally not understand even after browsing the archives a bit."
Francis, you seem to be telling us that you think that we may have hidden the maguffin rather too well. That's intentional. Stick with us, and all will be revealed in due course. It ain't quite a Faberge egg, but it's ours, and we're rather proud of it. And love your 'toons, by the way...
That's right: It ain't quite a Faberge egg
Well, that's disgustingly organic. Not that I object to doing a little egg-sucking in better henhouses everywhere.... but I'd pictured something a little more jewel-like, even if it ain't Faberge.
